Extended Hallowe'en Closure
Dear Parent
An announcement was made by the NI Executive this morning that schools and other education settings will have the half-term holiday break extended from 19th to 30th October. ‘Education settings are to be closed to all pupils during these two weeks including for vulnerable children and children of key workers.’
Minister Weir has also stated that as ‘this is an extension of the half-term break, it is not intended to be used for remote learning.’ However, on Friday, children will be given a short Halloween activity pack with the emphasis on fun activities. Online activities for the older children, eg Studyladder, myOn, Accelerated Reader, that may have been used this year can also be continued during this closure.
The planned Fancy Dress day on Friday 23rd will obviously not now take place – I felt it would be too short notice for everyone to be ready this Friday.
One piece of good news is that Sylvia has informed me that the Scary Fun Day Lunch can go ahead this Friday.
As things stand, we plan to reopen on Monday 2nd November. Hopefully there will be no change to that date.
Finally, with both Hallowe’en & Covid-19 in mind, stay safe and we will see you all in a few weeks.
